Camco Technologies is a leading provider of innovative terminal automation solutions and services. Since 1999, we have helped marine and railway terminal operators worldwide improve operational performance, enhance safety, and reduce operating costs.
Today, more than 300 terminal operators rely on our solutions to optimize gate, rail, crane, and yard operations. By combining highly accurate OCR technology, robust kiosk systems, and advanced software platforms, we enable terminals of all sizes to streamline their processes and deliver a higher level of customer service.
At Camco Technologies, we’re looking for a Software Support Expert for our 3rd Line Support Team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for analyzing and resolving complex software issues that couldn’t be resolved by our 1st and 2nd Line Support teams.
This is not a traditional developer role. Although you’ll occasionally do some programming or make minor software adjustments, the focus is primarily on in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, and communicating with customers and colleagues.
Are you someone who enjoys getting to the root of complex problems, thinks logically, and solves technical puzzles? Then we’d love to meet you.
When a software incident is reported by a customer, it first goes through our support organization:
• 1st Line handles standard questions and known issues.
• 2nd Line investigates more complex technical problems.
• 3rd Line steps in when in-depth software analysis is required.
As a Software Support Expert, you’ll analyze complex incidents, examine log files, network communication, and software behavior, and collaborate with developers to devise structural solutions.
You’ll serve as the technical point of contact for the most challenging software issues within our organization.
• Conduct thorough analyses of complex software problems.
• Examine log files, data sources, and system behavior.
• Identify the causes of software incidents and performance issues.
• Translate findings into concrete solutions.
• Collaborate closely with software developers (Tier 4).
• Professionally guide and inform clients about analyses and solutions.
• Share knowledge within the team and contribute to our knowledge database.
• Manage priorities when multiple incidents need to be handled simultaneously.
• Occasionally implement software modifications or bug fixes when the workload allows
We are primarily looking for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for software.
• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or another technical field.
• Bachelor’s degree holders are also eligible provided they have relevant experience.
• Strong logical insight and analytical reasoning skills.
• Affinity for software and IT systems.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
• A team player who shares knowledge and enjoys collaborating.
• Ability to track multiple cases simultaneously and set priorities.
You don’t need to be a professional software developer, but you understand how software works and are able to read, interpret, and analyze code.
You have experience with or knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language. Knowledge of C# is a strong asset, but candidates with experience in Java or C++ are also definitely eligible.
In addition, insights into networking, SQL, and databases are a significant asset. Experience with multithreaded software architectures and software applications in networked environments will help you quickly find your footing in this role.
Did you acquire this knowledge not only through your education but also through personal interest, self-study, or previous work experience? If so, we definitely encourage you to apply. We value analytical thinking, a thirst for learning, and a passion for software just as much as a specific degree or career path.
• You have experience as a software developer and want to evolve toward analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• You get a thrill from investigating the root causes of complex problems.
• You prefer understanding systems to spending all day developing new software.
• A challenging role in an innovative high-tech environment.
• A key role within our specialized 3rd Line Support Team.
• Collaboration with experienced software developers and support specialists.
• Opportunities for technical growth and making an impact.
• Permanent contract with an attractive salary package, including fringe benefits.
• Flexible working hours.
• The option to work from home up to 2 days a week after a thorough onboarding period.
• During the training period, you’ll work full-time at the office so you can get to know our products, customers, and colleagues well.
• A collaborative work environment where knowledge sharing is key.
• A high degree of autonomy, responsibility, and room for initiative.
Our ambition is to further expand our 3rd Line expertise so that we become less dependent on escalations to Tier 4. As a Software Support Expert, this gives you a crucial role within our organization and more opportunities to actively contribute to software improvements and developments in the future.
